Our Story

We're not just about wine, we're about the whole wine experience

Mountain Valley Wines was created in 2004 by Nemanja Borjanovic (5% off you order to anyone who can pronounce that) while visiting Montenegro. I have always loved the wine from the region and when I came back to the UK I ensured I had a stash to last until the next visit. Good wine is enjoyed with friends and soon a small circle was enquiring if I could bring back more of the Monte “stuff”. I did and a small following grew through word of mouth. Fresh out of University I had an eureka moment and realised there was a thirst for not only Montenegrin wines but wines from off the beaten track, lesser known regions and wines from smaller producers of the traditional Old World countries.

Tastes Good...

Ignoring the snobbery often associated with wine I set out to discover unrepresented regions, grapes and styles. This journey of discovery carries on today with Mountain Valley Wines now offering a variety of unique wines and very good quality too.

Between 2004 and 2009 we increased our portfolio to include wine gems from Croatia, Georgia and Slovenia. Our wines were noticed by several inquisitive sommeliers who recognised their potential and we soon found our wine discoveries listed in some great restaurants. Our trade business was formed in 2009 and continues to grow offering genuinely unique wines to restaurant, bar, pub lists, independent shops and corporate events. Read more on Trade
