The Svirce winery was one of the first Croatian producers to receive the "organic" certification and also benefits from the protected Grand Cru status. Grown on the southern part of the island of Hvar it’s named after an ancient settlement dating back to the 15th century. This is a robust Plavac Mali (a relative of the Californian Zinfandel) aged for at least 18 months in oak and with an average crop of only 0.5kg per vine - the winemaker’s efforts have paid off, today Ivan Dolac is regarded as one of the best and most consistent quality wine of Croatia. Listed here at £19.99 it offers discovery at great value. Dark ruby in colour it's rich in forest fruits with a smooth oak finish. We recommend serving with game, stews and red meats. Enjoy!
