Vranac pronounced “Vrana-ts” is an autochthonic Montenegro quality wine sort that has been cultivated for centuries in Montenegro in Crmnica, the region stretching from the Skadar Lake to the Adriatic Sea at 500 meters above sea-level. It is a distant cousin of Zinfandel and most recently the vines have been planted by John Bree in California.
Slightly earthy and rustic it has mellow tannins on the finish (no oak ageing). We recommend it served with red meats especially barbecue or a charcuterie plate.
It also makes for a perfect present for anyone looking for a an intriguing as well as a delicious discovery.
